We know it’s icky, but piles of pet waste left on lawns is bad for waters, wildlife, and unsuspecting feet. Pet waste contains A LOT of bacteria and parasites that are a health threat to people and wildlife. If left on the ground, pet waste can wash into storm drains with rains and then into lakes and rivers adding nutrients to the water, reducing oxygen for aquatic life, and leading to algae. Also, many cities have ordinances making it is unlawful not to pick up pet waste.
So, before the spring rains, scoop that poop.
