Don’t let fall colors become next year’s algae blooms.
Lakes and rivers need care all year, but fall is a particularly important time to help. Leaves, grass clippings, and other organic debris have loads of phosphorus. These materials can pile up by storm drains and wash into lakes, rivers, and ponds where that excess phosphorus cause algae blooms.
Help your local waters this fall by cleaning up storm drains near you. Rake, sweep, and remove debris and make sure only rain flows down the drain.
