Golf Carts on pathways

It has come to the City’s attention that the use of motorized vehicles on City sidewalks & pathways (trails)  is becoming an issue, specifically golf cart use by minors.

Ordinance 73.03 Operating Requirements states: It is unlawful for any person to operate a recreational motor vehicle (D) On a public sidewalk or walkway provided or used for pedestrian travel. As well as (G)   At any place in a careless, reckless or negligent manner so as to endanger or be likely to endanger any person or property or to cause injury or damage thereto. It has been noted these young people have been clinging to the roof and sides of the golf cart and driving at high speeds.  We would hate for anyone, including these young people,  to be injured.

Carver County Sheriff has been notified, if you notice motorized vehicles on sidewalks or pathways (trails), please call the Sheriff’s NON-emergency line 952.361.1231.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping make our town safe for all.
